  • March 12, 2024

What to know

  • The FY23 NIKE, Inc. Impact Report represents the ambition of the entire company to move the world forward through the power of sport.
  • In FY23, NIKE, Inc. continued to show strong progress against its 29 targets for 2025.
  • The company’s FY23 progress shows clear traction behind its ambition: to bring more people — including the next generations of athletes — into sport by fueling connection and inspiring deeper relationships.

Our teams believe in the power of community. It’s through community that the company pursues its vision of creating a better world for all athletes* — one that’s inclusive, equitable, diverse and sustainable. Our 2025 targets help hold us accountable to making a real difference, and the FY23 NIKE, Inc. Impact Report highlights the progress we’re making:

Building Equity With Communities Inside and Outside of Nike
Diversity of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives helps us drive innovation. We are proud to maintain 1:1 pay equity for women and U.S. racial and ethnic minorities. And we continue to make gains with representation of U.S. racial and ethnic minorities across our enterprise at the director-plus level; up 9 percent compared to our 2020 target baseline. We’ve been recognized by organizations such as Workplace Pride, and we’re consistently named a best place to work for LGBTQIA+ employees by the Human Rights Campaign. Globally, our $142.7 million community investment (or 2.1 percent of our pretax income) in FY23 reflects our support of equitable access to sport and inclusive communities. And our Black Community Commitment and Inclusive Community Portfolio, totaling $40.8 million in FY23, demonstrate our dedication to advance systemic equity and inclusivity. What’s more, in FY23, Converse donated $225,000 to five organizations in its Black Joy portfolio.

Creating a More Resilient Future of Sport for Athletes and Their Communities
On our journey toward a more sustainable future, Nike is helping communities to become more resilient, emphasizing environmental stewardship and circularity to help protect the future of sport and the planet. In FY23, we achieved a 69 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from our owned or operated facilities. Meeting our 2025 renewable energy targets, we now also source 96 percent renewable electricity for all owned or operated facilities globally. And we are holding steady at diverting 100 percent of our waste from Tier 1 manufacturing facilities from hitting landfills. On the local level, we’re proud of the work our Partnership with Trust For Public Land, announced in 2022, has done to combat climate inequity and create access to urban green spaces, sport and play for underserved communities in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Powering the Future of Youth Sport and Creativity
We champion creativity and self-expression for youth and invest in sport for the next generation because youth is the future of Nike. In FY23, we directly helped more than 1.1 million kids around the world — 48 percent of whom were girls — discover the joy of movement through our community partners’ diverse play and sport-based programs. We also empowered more than 142,000 coaches with world-class training tools, and trained more than 14,000 of them to deliver fun, inclusive experiences to all kids. By changing behaviors at scale, we are impacting how sport is experienced by youth, especially girls.
